Graphic Designers

Iona Peterson

Web Design & Branding

Hello, during my third year in Edinburgh Napier University’s Graphic Design course, I was a part of creating new branding for ZYA Community and redesigning this website. It was a great learning experience working with a client and fellow students to make something useful and impactful for a community. My current interests include branding, packaging and motion graphics, and I love any opportunity to learn new applications of graphic design to tell a company’s story. Interested to find out more? Christy Mitchell-Henry

Web Design & Branding

Hello, I am currently studying graphic design at university but aspire to make it my full time career. I draw inspiration from many aspects of life and enjoy reflecting my inspirations in a visual capacity for all to enjoy. Although my design style is continuing to evolve, I often gravitate towards modern styles that feature illustrative characteristics. My work is very open to different mediums, and I love challenging myself through experimentation to create designs that best suit a brief.

Shan Heyworth

Editorial

Hello, I worked with ZYA Community to set up and edit the new digital magazine, The Mix, using my editorial skills and knowledge from studying MSc Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University.

I have lived in Edinburgh for the last five years, having studied French and English Literature at the University of Edinburgh, and I enjoy discovering new creative places, events and people here. This placement was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the vibrant creative community in Edinburgh and beyond and curate a diverse and impressive lineup of multimedia art that resonates with ZYA.

I also have experience with social media marketing and content writing, and am currently writing my dissertation on the Indian children’s picture book market. I am particularly interested in making publishing more diverse and accessible. Find me on LinkedIn or on X @publishan.

Hello, I am currently pursuing MSc Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University. During my placement with ZYA Community, I was the lead on marketing and social media, and came up with content plans and designed content to post across social media platforms. A part of this involved the Journey Home Research Project, where I had a part in choosing informative snippets for socials. I also helped to choose pieces for the online blog space, and edited existing pieces from ZYA's archive, which was extremely enjoyable and valuable, being that my main interest in the publishing world is editorial. My placement with ZYA sparked my interest in marketing and provided me with great experience to bring forward. I am currently working on my dissertation in the area of diverse representation in children's literature, which is a subject I am passionate about, while doing freelance work in the publishing world.
